Vinzsweetest, here's my PAL initial screening experience. Thank God I was able to retrieve it from my former blooger account. Its kinda lengthy but I hope it'll help.

Philippine Airlines: My First Attempt
A week after I submitted my application online, an HR representative (I can't recall her name) from Philippine Airlines called me at home. She asked me few questions about my personal information such as my height, vision, civil status and if i am a graduate of a 4 yr course. Luckily, I met their qualifications and invited me for initial screening - July 7, 2009, 8AM. She instructed me to wear a short-sleeve blouse with blazer, knee length skirt, in high-heeled shoes, hair tied in a bun and full make-up. She also asked me to bring my resume, a 2x2 picture, and a pen. Please don't forget to bring those coz you will be filling up the same information sheet you submitted online.

July 7, 2009
I arrived at the PNB Financial Center, Pres. Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, CCP Complex, Pasay City at exactly 8:00 AM. Buzzer Beater. But the screening started at about 9AM so I was able to have a retouch.

So the day started. Ms A.G. (initials only)
introduced herself. I will try to recall everything that she said about the qualities they're looking for.

QUALITIES
So what are the qualities they are looking for? She told us that it will be based in appearance and communication skills. But the most important is "packaging". The combination of everything. When it comes to appearance she noted that they are very critical when it comes to flaws - pimples, scar, blemishes (i can't remember if she mentioned moles). She even told us that your head should be proportionate to your body. There should be no gap in your teeth unless you were told to have it braced. The angles on your elbows and knees should also be in normal limits. Matured personality is also important with them coz you will be dealing with different kinds of people. And of course, SMILE. I think there's no flight attendant out there who doesn't have a warm beautiful smile.

(grabe ang daming bawal....)

SCREENING PROPER
So the initial screening started. We were almost 25 in the room. Three men and the rest were ladies. We were asked to deliver a 2 minute speech. Just tell whatever you wanna share about yourself in front of the classroom and after that you will take a walk (just a normal walk), about 3-4 steps, in front of the judges (Ms. A.G. and the other lady). Yay! I called them judges coz I felt that I am being judged in an audition for American Idol. Anyway, after you walk near them, you will be asked to roll up your sleeve to expose your forearm and hands to check for scars, bend and straighten your elbows to check for the angles if you have deformities i think, look slowly from side-to-side to check for facial flaws - blemishes, pimples, etc. Say "eeeeee" andd "aaaahhhh" to check for teeth alignment and gaps. We were also asked to have our feet together, then turn around, and feet together again to check for deformities again. And THAT'S IT!

THE RESULT
After the last person was called. We were given a small paper with our names and result on it. Ms. A.G. announced that those who passed the initial screening will stay for the pre-medicals and the rest who didn't meet their qualifications will only re-apply after 6 months.

Sadly, I didn't pass. Ouch! But that's OK. Maybe PAL was not for me. And there are still other airline companies hiring right now. Better try my luck again next time.

As promised, here's my review of THE SECRET Movie.

I never knew that the book, The Secret, has a movie version until a friendly blogger (FAwannabe) shared it in her site. I wasn't able to watch it right away because of poor internet connection and maybe I'm not that interested with it at that time. But out of curiosity, I bought a DVD copy of it in a mall near my home.

After watching it, the concept of Ask, Believe and Receive retained in my mind. Maybe because they animatedly compared it to Aladdin asking wishes and Genie granting all of it.

Yeah. It sounds too idealistic for me. Too childish. Too selfish. And hey, where's GOD in the picture?
OK. Let me go straight. I have nothing against with the movie. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from it. Haha! By the way, the movie made my faith with God grew stronger even if they didn't made any example or a scene wherein God is there.

And because I'm such a religious kid and I have my own interpretation of things, I made my own version of Ask, Believe and Receive.

  • Instead of asking the universe (or a genie) about your wishes, why don't you try go to church and pray to Him what you want?
  • ASIDE from believing that the universe will conspire to help you, strengthen your FAITH in Him. Let God move the universe for you.
  • And eventully, time will come, when you are ready for it, He'll soon give it to you.
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. -John 15:7

Before I finally bid farewell to the world of rehabilitation medicine tonight, let me share some unforgettable views at my workplace. It may be so simple but I treasure every joyful moments I shared with my co-workers and my patients there.

On the left: That's the exercise / gym area.
On the right: That's the staff table / bulletin board / phone area / receiving area / etc. etc. etc

I will also miss.....

On the left: Logging in and out on the attendance logbook......... ( i was not a regular employee that's why I used the mano-mano system.... )
On the right: Writing and updating patient's chart.....I highlighted my name "JEZ" on the chart 'coz that was my last PT session with the owner of the chart. Last for December 2009. Last for Healthway. I was so emotional that time that's why I need to highlight it - ORANGE.

On the left: My wifi spot at Alabang Town Center's Activity Center
On the right: And my walang kakupas-kupas pink headband and my white uniform.

A LESSON LEARNED:

Its not that simple to be a PT, I needed so much strength....

Physically, for me to be able to perform modalities application, passive / manual stretching and other exercises as well.
Mentally, for me to assess and to think proper treatments for the patient.
Emotionally, for me to handle ALL kinds of patient's moods.
Financially.........
"I learned how to value HARD-EARNED MONEY."
PS. Sorry for the messed-up look of this entry. Maybe i'm still in mixed emotion state right now.

Tomorrow's my last day at Healthway, last day as a physical therapist. I feel like crying cause I'm letting go of the profession, which I studied really hard just to pass every subject of its course.

Meet my kababatas.

We grew up in different environments but there's one thing in common that made our friendship grew stronger - we all have the same faith.
This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

John 15:12-15

They are my churchmates all throughout the years. Some of them are my kababatas' boyfriend / girlfriend. Whew! Our family is getting bigger but I still don't have a partner 'til now. Haha!

My Pretty Charming Friends.

The Gentlemen.

Since I am not little miss perfect, one problem that I have to deal with is my skin. I sometimes have hormonal imbalance before my monthly period that causes monstrous zits to come out. And because of my medium skin tone, those monsters usually leave dark spots.

And that's a very big problem for me since cabin crew recruiters are so meticulous when it comes to skin. They will check your legs, arms, elbows and face.

And being a person who always try to find a solution in her problems, I enrolled myself in YOUTUBE SCHOOL OF MAKE-UP ARTISTRY. Seriously.

I always take time to attend my classes with my favorite make-up artists. Haha! Kidding. I just watch different make-up tutorial videos in You Tube. And that's for FREE.

I also wanna share this flawless skin tutorial video by MakeupByCheri. She's one of my favorites since I think we almost have the same skin tone. I'm just few shades darker. Haha. :)

I'm here at Netopia - Alabang Town Center right now. Just ate my lunch and I'm making the most of my unpaid lunch break. Haha! By the way, our desktop and laptop at home are both non-functional because of DOTA. Oh how I hate DOTA! Grrrrr....... ;)

Anyway, I'll be reading my friends' blog now. Ciao! :)

Let's see if this is true.

Hmmm. I think I have a better photo now.

Just a tip: be friends with the photographer and the one who will edit your picture. And be precise on your instructions on what you want to edit.

In my case, I knew the photographer already since I met him on my part-time job last Halloween. So I just need to be friends with the picture editor. I don't have any blush-on during the photo shoot (yes, photo shoot, coz i had so many shots to choose from) so I asked her to give me some blush on my cheeks and I also f0rgot my pearl earings that time, so I asked her to place a pearl on my ears. Now, everything is possible.

I think its OK to demand since GREAT IMAGE is very pricey, right?üüü
